Instructors
We not only have a strong academic background but also many years of industry experience that allows us to see first hand the importance of computer science in shaping our world. But most importantly, we are committed to computer science education and are dedicated to bringing the best learning experience to our students.
Dr. Qin Chen
Dr. Chen has a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a research focus on Robotics. Prior to her high tech career as a software engineer in Silicon Valley, she was on the engineering faculty at University of Redlands and taught electrical engineering classes.
For the past 10+ years, Dr. Qin Chen has been working as a STEM educator in the Bay Area. As an instructor for Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies, she teaches Artificial Intelligence for Robots to students(11th-12th grade) from all over the world. Dr. Chen also teaches year round after school Python, GUI Design, ACSL Competition, and AI Robotics programs to students in local schools and at her home classroom in Los Altos.
Dr. David Zhu
Dr. Zhu received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. While at Stanford, he co-founded Nomadic Technologies which provided robots to top universities and AI research centers around the world. With members of the AI Lab, he co-founded the Motion Factory which pioneered the use of robotic algorithms in computer games.

After 20+ years in the high tech industry, he returns to education as a co-founder of Pocket AI with the mission to make AI education accessible for all students. He is a lecturer at Stanford University and Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies, as well as a USACO coach. He also teaches the popular "Intro to AI" series and the "Making Games" with pygame series.
